Only the peeling paint and the skeletal frame of the bandstand remained, a silent testament to the terrifying performance that had just unfolded. The air, however, still thrummed with a residual unease, a lingering chill that promised this night was far from over. The heart of the town, it seemed, had a darkness within it that would not easily be silenced.
