…Was it real? Or was it just her mind playing tricks? The fog felt heavier now, more menacing, as if it had been hiding something, and now, for a fleeting moment, it had revealed it. She pushed herself to her feet, ignoring the throbbing in her ankle. She had to find the others. She had to get out. But as she took a step, she heard it again, the beautiful, haunting melody that Bjorn had heard. It was closer now, closer than it should have been, and it was coming from the direction behind her. A primal fear, cold and sharp, coursed through her. This was no mere fog. This was something ancient, something hungry, and it was closing in.
