…The air grew colder, sharper. Lars let out a strangled cry, pointing a trembling finger into the deepening gloom. "I saw it!" he stammered, his voice raw with terror. "Something moved! Big… dark… it was watching us!" Astrid and Bjorn strained their eyes, peering into the impenetrable shadows where Lars pointed. They saw nothing but the dense, silent woods. Yet, the sheer, unadulterated terror in Lars’s voice was a tangible thing, a chilling echo that froze them in place, their hearts pounding a frantic rhythm against their ribs. The woods watched, and for the first time, they truly felt its malevolent gaze.
