…Bjorn. He burst through the trees, his face a mask of terror, his eyes wide and unfocused. He was running, not from the Troll, but from something else, something unseen that had been stalking him from the front. He tripped, stumbling directly into their path, his arms flailing. He hadn’t seen them, not really. He was running blind, a terrified animal fleeing an invisible predator. The roar of the Troll echoed again, closer this time, a promise of brutal, earth-shattering violence. And from the trees ahead, the Huldra’s song, now a siren’s lament, beckoned them deeper, towards an unknown fate. The convergence had happened, but it wasn’t an escape. It was a trap, sprung.
