The cave felt alive, full of purpose. “Then we move,” Kaelen said. “Before the moon rises.” He tucked the hatchling into a sling he fashioned from his cloak. It nestled against him, already dozing, its tiny claws gripping the fabric. They packed supplies, checked the map, and set out into the fading light. The shadow was waiting. But so were they. And now they had a secret that could change everything.
