Laura joined him, leaning into his side. “What happens now?” she asked. He considered the question. The shadows were gone, but the world was vast. There would be other threats, other eggs, other travelers needing shelter. But for tonight, peace reigned. “Now we rest,” he said. “And tomorrow, we build.” Grit howled at the moon from somewhere below. It was off-key, wonderfully ridiculous, and utterly his. Kaelen smiled.
