Tee’s hands trembled as she opened it, the paper thin and worn. Inside was a single line: Mom, I remember your lullaby. Tee wept again, but this time, the tears were not of sorrow. She held the letter against her heart, feeling the weight of years and hope and love. Asher came to her side, wrapping his small arms around her waist, and Flanan stood in the doorway, his eyes soft with understanding. “She’s coming home,” Tee whispered, and for the first time in a long, long while, she believed it.
