…“Is this it?” she whispered. “Is this the end?” Flanan kissed her temple. “No, love. It’s just the beginning.” She closed her eyes and let the peace settle over her like a blanket. She had walked through nightmares. She had faced a grandmother made of despair and a lover made of lies. She had lost a daughter and found her again, discovered another, and built a home in a place that should not have existed. And yet it did. The glass had shattered, but she had gathered the pieces and made a prism. And through it, the light came in every color. Tee opened her eyes and smiled at the darkening sky. “Goodnight, Mama,” she said softly, to no one and everyone. The stars twinkled back.
