Felt the echo of pressure and warmth and the ghost of a scar beneath his thumb. Next loop, he'd say yes. Not the careful yes. Not the staged yes. The real one—the one that was building in his chest like a pressure system, compressing with each refusal, each iteration, each not yet. Next loop, he'd stop stopping. Nathan closed his eyes. The alarm was set. The loop would reset. Tomorrow, he'd let it burn.
