…He scrambled to the cockpit, his fingers flying over the controls. The engines roared to life, the familiar thrum a welcome sound. As the Styx disengaged from the station, Bodyguard glanced back at the viewport. The docking bay was empty, but he felt its presence, a lingering chill in the air. He had escaped, but he hadn’t won. He had faced the Void Lurker, and it had shown him its true nature, and the nature of its masters. The hunt was far from over. It had just taken a far more personal, and dangerous, turn. The Ouroboros symbol burned in his mind, a grim promise of the darkness that lay ahead. He was no longer just a hunter. He was something to be hunted.
