The wind whispered through the trees, a gentle lullaby rather than a mournful dirge. For the first time since she was six years old, Tonya Patrick felt a flicker of something other than vengeance. It was fragile, tentative, like a seedling pushing through hardened earth, but it was there. She could breathe.
