…The stares of strangers felt less like judgment and more like distant echoes. He had confessed. He had made a complete and utter fool of himself. And somehow, impossibly, he was being invited for ice cream. The day had started with him rehearsing in his head, and it was ending with him stumbling through a conversation with the girl of his dreams, his best friend by his side, a bizarrely hopeful future unfolding before him, one awkward, sun-drenched step at a time. Sometimes, he realized, the most chaotic confessions led to the sweetest outcomes. And he had a feeling that this was just the beginning of a very, very interesting chapter.
