…Bishop just grunted, already reaching for the flask tucked into his belt. He’d killed a sorcerer, exposed corruption within the Church, and somehow managed not to kill a single werewolf. A surprisingly clean job, all things considered. But as he watched Petra, her gaze still fixed on him, and thought of Sarai’s knowing smile, he knew this was just another loose thread in the grand, messy tapestry of his life. The real fight, the one against the shadows festering within the Church itself, was only just beginning.
