…That man was gone, buried under layers of violence and ambition. He was Capone, the king, the feared ruler of the underworld. But sometimes, in the quiet solitude of his victories, he wondered if he had lost himself somewhere along the way. The struggle for power had consumed him, reshaped him, and the streets, in their unforgiving wisdom, had made him into something new, something harder. And as he stared out at the city, he knew that the struggle was far from over. The concrete crown demanded a constant vigilance, a sacrifice of peace, a surrender of the man he once was. The streets had claimed him, and they would continue to mold him, until his last breath.
