…As the first hint of dawn began to paint the sky in bruised shades of purple and grey, Capone stood amidst the carnage, the weight of his empire pressing down on him heavier than ever before. The streets had bled, and so had he. He had won this battle, but the war was far from over. The fear he had instilled in the hearts of men had been met with a desperate, vengeful fury. And in the silence that followed the storm, Capone knew, with a chilling certainty, that the concrete throne he sat upon was far more precarious than he had ever imagined. The empire had survived, but the king was forever changed.
