…He lowered his head, and my eyes fluttered shut, not in resistance, but in anticipation. The world had narrowed to this single point, this single touch. The crimson vow had been spoken, a binding that went deeper than any chain. And as his lips met mine, a kiss that was both a claim and a question, I knew that my life, the life of Elara, the slayer, was irrevocably changed.
