…A chilling smile played on his lips, a predator’s promise. He turned, his regal form disappearing into the shadows of the grand hall, leaving me alone amidst the decaying splendor. The wind howled outside, a mournful song that echoed the turmoil in my soul. I had come to end a life, to fulfill a sacred duty. But as I stood there, the phantom touch of his hand still on my skin, I knew that my mission had just become infinitely more complicated, and terrifyingly, alluring. The mark of the hunter was fading, replaced by something far more dangerous.
