…Roric offered a rare, faint smile. "She's waiting. We all are." Kaelen nodded, a silent acknowledgment. He turned his back on the crumbling empire and walked towards the rising sun, towards the uncertain future. The void still whispered within him, but now, for the first time, it was not the only voice he heard. There was another, fainter, but growing stronger: the voice of a boy who had lost himself, but was now beginning the arduous, terrifying journey to find his way back.
