…Rene’s heart gave a little flutter. “Explosive? Deon, no. We can’t mess with the chemicals.” But even as she said it, her mind was already racing. A controlled spill. A carefully orchestrated accident. It was the perfect cover. “Just a little spill, babe,” Deon coaxed, his eyes shining. “A little blue goo. They’ll be so focused on the cleanup, they won’t even notice us checking out their little spy gadgets.” Rene looked at the blue liquid, then at the ventilation grate, then back at Deon. His paranoia, usually a source of anxiety, felt almost… comforting tonight. It was a shared reality, a secret language they spoke. She took a deep breath. “Alright, Deon. Let’s make some mess.”
