…With a silent oath, Isabelle melted back into the night, her heart pounding a frantic rhythm against her ribs. The scent of jasmine was now tinged with the metallic tang of fear. Armand Dubois’s obsession had led him to the precipice of a forgotten war, and in doing so, he had inadvertently drawn her, and by extension, Empress Katja, into its deadly embrace.
