…At home, Carol locked the door and checked every room. Kira sat on the couch, her phone in her hand. A new notification appeared. She opened it with trembling fingers. You take a different way home. Smart. But I always know where you are. She stared at the screen. Carol came in and saw her face. “What is it?” Wordlessly, Kira held up the phone. Carol read it, and her face went white. “I’m calling Officer Delgado again. This is not stopping.” Kira nodded, but in the back of her mind, a single thought echoed: How does he know?
