He had used that knowledge before. Could Brian have been drawn into this somehow? Or was this a trap? “I have to see him,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “Kira, no,” Carol said. Renfro held up a hand. “Wait here. I’ll bring him to an interview room. We’ll keep you separate until we know what he wants.” Kira nodded, though her hands were trembling. Renfro left. The seconds stretched into an eternity. Kira’s phone buzzed again. A single word. Surprise.
