…“The security footage from the rental company just came through,” she said. “Diane Marlow is a woman in her fifties, gray hair, glasses. Not what I expected. But that’s not the interesting part.” She paused, letting the silence stretch. “She’s standing next to William Rainor in the video.” Kira’s heart pounded. “So they know each other.” “They do more than that.” Renfro showed the phone to Kira. On the screen, a grainy image showed William smiling, his arm around the woman. “We have a face. Now we find out who she is.” The chapter ended with that image burned into Kira’s memory: William’s grin, the woman’s calm eyes, and the knowledge that the threat had just gotten closer.
