…Hesitantly, I knelt down, my reflection staring back at me. It was me, Malachi. But something was different. The fear in my eyes was still there, but beneath it, a new hardness had begun to form. A glint that was not entirely my own. It was a flicker, a nascent echo of Taji’s predatory gaze, a shadow of his troubled intensity. It was a terrifying, yet strangely compelling, revelation. The boy was gone. And in his place, something… else was emerging. Something that had survived. Something that had learned. Something that was, perhaps, already becoming a part of the darkness that had consumed his father. The scars of the soul were beginning to bloom.
