He reached out, and with a gentle, luminescent touch, placed his hand on Barry’s shoulder. “Thank you, Barry,” Gay’s voice, for the first time, wasn’t a series of chirps and whistles, but a soft, melodic hum that resonated deep within Barry’s chest. “You have shown me… that even in the land of beige, there is color to be found.” Barry felt a warmth spread through him, a feeling far more comforting than any tax return had ever provided. “Anytime, Gay,” he said, his voice a little thick. “Anytime.” The adventure, it seemed, was far from over.
