…And somewhere in the dark, the red eyes were closer now. A growl echoed through the trees, followed by a voice like gravel. "Found you." Aaron froze. "Did you hear that?" Silas and Lyra stopped. The forest was silent. "Hear what?" Lyra asked. Aaron shook his head. "Nothing. Let's keep moving." But as they walked, he could feel something watching from the shadows. Something ancient. Something hungry. And he knew, with a certainty that chilled his blood, that the real nightmare was only beginning.
