…But as it faded, its voice echoed. "This is not over, hybrid. The door is open. And others will come." The forest fell silent. Aaron collapsed, the Heartstone dimming. Lyra caught him, her arms around him. "Is it gone?" she asked. "For now," Silas said. "But it spoke true. The fall of the Umbra Lord has drawn attention. We have only bought ourselves time." Aaron looked at the Heartstone, then at the forest. The amber eyes were gone, but he felt their gaze still, a promise of future conflict. "Then we'll be ready," he said. But even as he spoke, he felt the shadow stir, and he knew the greatest battle was still to come.
