…"I am now," he said. "We have the Heartstone. Now we can fight." But as they turned to leave, the sky darkened. A shadow fell over the valley, and a cold wind swept through. Aaron looked up and saw a figure standing on the ridge above—a tall, cloaked shape with burning red eyes. The Umbra Lord. "He found us," Morwen whispered. The Umbra Lord's voice echoed across the valley like thunder. "You cannot run, hybrid. The Heartstone is mine. And you will bring it to me." Aaron gripped the stone, feeling its warmth against his palm. "We'll see about that." The chapter ended with Aaron and his allies preparing for the battle to come, the shadow of the Umbra Lord looming over them.
