…Aaron hesitated, then crossed the threshold. The warmth of the fire inside wrapped around him. He turned to look back at the dark forest, where the howl had come from. He knew, somehow, that this was only the beginning. "You'll need to get strong fast," Lyra said, closing the door behind them. "Because the night doesn't wait." And as the latch clicked, Aaron felt the weight of his new reality settle on his shoulders. He didn't know what he was, or what he would become. But he knew one thing: he would survive. And he would find his place—even if he had to build it himself.
