"We need to get to the falls. Now. If he draws power before midnight, it's over." The sirens grew louder. Fire trucks turned onto the road. Humans bustling, oblivious. Elara looked at Lyra, at Kael, at the smoldering forest. The stakes had never been higher. Tonight, everything would change. She ran. And behind her, the first star flickered in the darkening sky.
