About school, about families, about the future. Magic hovered in the air, a third presence. But for once, it felt like a friend. “Elara?” Lyra whispered into the dark. “Yeah?” “I’m scared.” “Me too.” Elara reached across the space between them. Their fingers touched. “But we’ve got this.” “Promise?” “Promise.” The pulse hummed. Thorne was still out there. The moon was rising. But in that room, with Lyra’s hand in hers, Elara felt something she hadn’t felt in days. Hope.
