…A distant rumble echoed from the direction of the falls. It wasn't thunder. It was deeper, more ancient. They both stood. The sky was clear, the stars bright. But at the horizon, just above the trees, a faint green glow flickered. "No," Elara whispered. "It can't be." The glow pulsed once, then faded. But the tremor in her chest remained, a warning. "We need to wake the others," William said. Elara nodded, her heart pounding. The ancient adversary was stirring. And tomorrow, they would have to face it. But tonight, she had William's hand in hers. Tonight, she was not alone. And that was enough to face whatever came next.
