And then the real battle begins.” Elara felt the stone pulse, a rhythm that matched the falls. She closed her eyes, reaching deep inside herself. She felt her mother’s magic, warm and gentle. She felt her father’s strength, cold and ancient. And she felt the falls—the heartbeat of the town, the boundary between worlds. She opened her eyes. “No. The battle ends here.” She raised the stone, and the chamber exploded with light.
