…I was still dead. I was still in this hellish reflection of the Black Woods. But for the first time since I had arrived, a sliver of understanding, a fragile tendril of hope, had taken root. The confrontation hadn’t ended with a violent clash, but with a shared moment of devastating revelation. Her pursuit wasn’t over, not entirely. But perhaps, just perhaps, now that I knew, now that I had seen a glimpse of her truth, there was a chance for something more than just endless torment. The path ahead was still shrouded in darkness, but for the first time, I felt like I might be able to see it.
