…“We need to get out of here,” Eva said, her voice tight. “Now.” As if in response, the station’s emergency lights, which had been a steady dim glow, began to flicker erratically, casting long, dancing shadows. The metallic tang in the air grew stronger, sharper. And from somewhere deep within the station, a low, resonant hum began to build, a sound that vibrated through the deck plates and into their very bones. The silent sentinel had finally woken. And it was hungry.
