…He reached his usual spot, a little apart from the main flock. He settled down, not on all fours, but propped up on his hind legs, his spectacles firmly in place. He looked out at the familiar landscape, the setting sun painting the sky in hues of orange and purple. He was home, but he was not the same sheep who had left. He carried the memories of Reginald, of the sprite, of the fizzy lemonade river. He carried the knowledge that adventure existed, not just in faraway lands, but within himself. And as the first stars began to prick the darkening sky, Bartholomew, the sheep who stood tall, knew that his journey was far from over. It had, in fact, just begun.
