…Leo’s gaze followed Ethan’s finger. The shadows under the pines seemed deeper, more menacing than before. He could barely make out the faint impression of something being pulled across the pine needles, leading away from their campsite and into the impenetrable darkness of the woods. “No,” Leo breathed, a cold dread washing over him. “No, no, no.” He knew, with a certainty that chilled him to the bone, that Sam and Caleb weren’t just gone. They had been taken. And whatever had taken them was still out there, lurking in the silent sky and the whispering woods. The fun camping trip had just turned into a nightmare.
