…"Run," Leo croaked, his voice raw with terror. "RUN!" The word was barely out of his mouth before the creature lunged, a shadowy, amorphous mass erupting from the oak tree. It moved with impossible speed, a blur of darkness against the already dim light. The boys scattered, their earlier terror amplified a thousandfold. The chase was on again, but this time, they knew what they were running from. And it knew they had found its lair.
