And Valerius was hunting for it. Her hand pressed to her chest, where the crystal burned like a brand. “I'm going to find it,” she said to the empty room. “And I'm going to finish what you started, Master Finch.” The heart gave a single, sharp beat—an answer, a promise, a warning.
