…I let myself love you, completely, without reservation, without fear. And it was beautiful. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever known. The last thing I remember from that time is the sound of your laughter, bright and clear, as we danced in the kitchen, barefoot, the music soft, the world outside forgotten. You spun me, and I laughed, and you caught me, and we stood there, breathless, your hands in mine, your eyes holding mine. "I love you," you said, and the words were a prayer, a promise, a benediction. "I love you too," I said, and I meant it. And for that moment, for that beautiful, fleeting, impossible moment, we were invincible. We were a sanctuary. We were home.
