…“It’s… it’s really pretty, Olivia,” Alice said, her voice a little clearer than before. Olivia’s face lit up. “I thought so too! Come on, let’s go draw it. We can use your special sparkly pens!” She held out her hand to Alice. Alice hesitated for a moment, then looked at Mary, who gave her a gentle, encouraging smile. Taking a deep breath, Alice reached out and took Olivia’s hand. As they walked out of the room together, hand in hand, the shadow that had clung to Alice seemed to lift, replaced by a new, quiet understanding. The sun continued to shine, warming them all.
