He closed his eyes for a moment, the image of the Eternal City, its impossible towers and its tyrannical Emperor, still vivid in his mind. He had escaped, yes, but the fight was far from over. Valerius would not rest. And Archius, a Roman soldier lost in a land of magic and beasts, knew that his own journey was only just beginning. The memories of the city, its wonders and its terrors, were now a part of him, like scars etched onto his soul. He had faced the impossible, and he had survived.
