AGAIN

…She finally stirred, the movement stiff and reluctant. She walked to the window, looking out at the city lights, which now seemed less disorienting and more… constant. Like the patterns she’d been repeating. She knew, with a certainty that chilled her to the bone, that she was back where she started. But perhaps, just perhaps, this time, the starting point would be different. Perhaps this time, the fall would be the beginning of a new kind of ascent. The echo of yesterday had resounded, loud and clear, and in its wake, a quiet, almost imperceptible, shift had begun. The path back was familiar, yes, but the traveler was starting to change.
