…As I spoke, a shiver traced its way down my spine, not entirely from excitement. A feeling, subtle as a breath of wind, brushed against the edge of my awareness. It was the feeling of being watched. I glanced around the yard, the trees rustling their leaves as if in sympathy. Nothing. Just the familiar sights and sounds of home. But the feeling lingered, a tiny seed of unease planted in the fertile ground of my anticipation. The map felt heavier now, not just with age, but with the weight of what it might contain, and the unknown journey it promised.
