He didn't even wait for Mr. Abernathy to finish his sentence. With a grateful nod, Barnaby Buttercup burst out of the library, the heavy oak door slamming shut behind him, leaving Mr. Abernathy to his books and his bibliophilic imaginings. The hunt for Bubbles was far from over. It was, in fact, just getting more wonderfully, hilariously complicated. He had a baker to confront, a lumpy bag to investigate, and a bake-off to win. The scent of adventure, and perhaps a hint of yeasty desperation, filled the air.
